On October 1, 2006, after 6 months of intense training, I ran in the 25th Annual Twin Cities Marathon.  I was finisher number 6,220, with a time of 4 hours and 52 minutes.  Running 26.2 miles was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, but the marathon as a whole was also one of the most exciting things I've ever done.  Until you've done it, you simply cannot imagine the thrill of running (with over 10,000 other people) a race that not even 1% of the general population will even attempt.

Even more exciting, perhaps, was learning that if you never stop challenging yourself, you'll never stop being amazed with what you can accomplish.  Before I began training for the marathon, I had never run more than 3 miles in my life.  Now, hundreds of miles later, I know that I can do anything I set my mind to accomplishing.
